The Local - Crafting a story for a heritage-led bar & restaurant
The Local is a traditional bar & restaurant built around the idea of craft, community, and timeless hospitality. Created to serve as a welcoming local bar & restaurant, the brand needed to balance the warmth and familiarity of a classic local with a more refined, contemporary approach.
The venue occupies a former farm cottage, and this history became a central influence in how the identity evolved. From the outset, there was a need for a considered brand identity, storytelling, and digital presence that could honour the building’s past while supporting its present-day use.
Drawing inspiration from the site’s agricultural roots alongside traditional pub interiors and honest materials, the aesthetic blends old and new in equal measure. The goal was to create an identity that feels grounded and enduring rather than nostalgic — one that reflects quality and craftsmanship while embracing a more modern sensibility. This project was an exercise in balance and restraint, bringing together heritage cues and contemporary design to create a bar & restaurant with a strong sense of place.
In a tourism landscape increasingly shaped by experience-led travel, the goal was to position The Local as more than a bar & restaurant - but as a place that customers would remember emotionally.
